Palmerston North’s Centennial parade took place on the 13th March 1971 to celebrate 100 years of the city’s settlement. It featured 92 community floats viewed by 10,000 spectators. Then Prime Minister Keith Jacka Holyoake was the guest of honour, hosted by Mayor Des Black.
