Join us for an artist talk with artist Kura Te Waru-Rewiri, curator Roma Pōtiki and Rongomaiaia Te Whaiti to discuss new works as Kura pays homage to the mareikura o ngā toi Māori (esteened person with a mastery of Māori art), the late Marilynn Webb. Kura says ‘I am inspired by the ordered chaos of my friend Marilynn’s overgrown garden. I am responding to her practice, the depth of her colours and the stylistic rendering and mauri (life force) of her landscapes.’
Te Manawa is also showing Kura’s works from the artist’s personal archive, a small selection of private and institutional loans, and a work from the Collection of Te Manawa Art Society.
