Pōwhiri and Flag-raising – 9.00am The Square
Join Rangitāne at Te Marae o Hine in The Square on Tuesday morning for a special flag-raising ceremony, and to honor our Tangata Whenua. The ceremony will be followed by a hikoi to Te Manawa where the commemoration activities and entertainment will kick off at 10am.

MC for Waitangi Day 2018 is awesome local DJ Damian ‘D-FRESH’ McGregor. He’ll be joined by talented youth artists, the crew from Anomaly Dance Studio (fresh from taking on the world stage!), the IPU Kodama Drum Team, the Papua Dance Group, People from the Papua Province of Indonesia, and Kapahaka from PNINS and QEC.
Nearby in Globe One, Toro Pikopiko Māori Puppetry will put on two amazing performances for all ages, while the multicultural kai on offer will keep our batteries charged!
Bring the whole whānau to Te Manawa and commemorate our national day with a raft of other free activities including a Te Reo scavenger hunt through the Museum for some cool prizes.
