Te Awa – The River, Heart of the Manawatū explores our river from different angles.
The Manawatū river is the life-blood of our region. Learn more about its history, meet its inhabitants, explore how we use water and discover how our region was formed.
This exhibition includes The Water Room (which runs twice a week), a native fish tank, bug specimens, a cave walk-through and an impressive moa skeleton. Te Awa is a fascinating and interactive insight into how the river feeds us, while also feeling the effects of our daily lives as well.
While the country is at Alert Level 2, the rainfall simulator and Water Room exhibits will be closed.
Nau mai, haere mai – Open daily from 10.00am to 5.00pm. General admission is free – donations welcome.
