Finance Manager (Fixed Term)

The Organisation

Te Manawa is one of New Zealand’s distinguished and premier regional attractions in the ManawatÅ«.  A cultural museum of art, science and history, Te Manawa provides visitors an interactive experience with immersive exhibitions, events, public and educational programmes for national and international visitors.   It is a showcase and store-house of the region’s nationally significant taonga, contemporary art, science and heritage collections and has the official, internationally recognised, New Zealand Rugby Museum housed within the same building. 

The Role 

Due to recent changes within the organisation, we are seeking an experienced accountant to join Te Manawa and lead the Corporate Services Team for a term of six months.  As the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the all financial and fiscal management aspects of the organisation.  This includes hands-on preparation of monthly board reports, analysis of financial statements, maintaining internal control safeguards, payment and payroll authorisation.   You will be responsible for a small highly talented team. 

Your Profile 

Working directly to the Acting Chief Executive, you will possess excellent interpersonal skills with experience in managing staff as well as liaising with senior management and a governance board.  You will possess fantastic leadership skills and strong communication abilities to operate well with a diverse group of specialist employees.You will have proven experience with financial and management accounting and be able to deliver high quality financially sound advice and reports at a governance board level.You will be an experienced finance professional with energy, enthusiasm and drive. Person Profile:

  • High quality tertiary degree in financial accounting;
  • Professional membership desirable;
  • Managerial and leadership experience;
  • Proven experience in a senior level finance or accounting position in a medium sized    organisation;
  • Business processes and systems review, development and implementation;
  • People management and leadership capabilities;
  • A keen eye for detail coupled with the ability to problem solve, use initiative and display    sound judgement;
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially in Excel
