ART Reference Library
This library houses art periodicals, exhibition catalogues, books, artists' files and a pictorial catalogue of Te Manawa's art collection.  The library's main focus is New Zealand material.  Unfortunately access to the reference library is currently unavailable due to gallery redevelopments.

Colin McVicar Library
Colin McVicar was a Museum Society member who had a vision to see a good library attached to the Manawatu Museum.  As a result Mr. McVicar bequeathed what amounts to 40% of the books in the library.  Since that time the library has grown and it now holds a good collection including Manawatu and New Zealand history, Maori and pacific history and ethnology. There is also a photographic collection and a small amount of archival material in the library, including the Glaxo and Hopwood archives.
