Te Manawa : Museum Gallery Science Centre

Ever wondered what its like to be at the top?

2 February 2010

Top Secondary Art from the Manawatū - a Te Manawa exhibition, is giving our secondary students a chance to show us.

This exhibition is your opportunity to view art portfolios by Level 3 students who achieved highest grades in 2009.

The exhibition opens on the 6th February and runs until 14th March.

Drawn from secondary schools across the Manawatū, this exhibition features a selection of portfolios from 30 students in painting, photography, design, sculpture and printmaking.

Sian Van Dyk, Assistant Curator says “ We wanted to do something different to show off the fresh talent coming out of our schools. These students are going to be our future artists and Te Manawa is proud to showcase the people who are a part of the Manawatū.”

The exhibition displays students work from the concept to the finished product. Ms Van Dyk explains “This exhibition is unique because usually we only see the finished product, but this show gives you an insight into how an artist’s mind works.”

This exhibition and all other exhibitions at Te Manawa are held in the art gallery building this year, while our major redevelopment takes place.

The Top Secondary Art from the Manawatu Exhibition was developed in collaboration with Manawatū Art Teachers’ Association.  Te Manawa is open seven days a week at 326 Main Street, Palmerston North or call 06 355 5000.
