A starry-eyed story about a little blue penguin who seeks help from the night sky when a sea monster captures his friend. The moon and stars give him the strength and confidence to go back and fight the monster and rescue his friend. The monster is made of all the rubbish floating in the sea.
The children get close up to a very cute little blue penguin and are introduced to the idea that these special birds and the ocean where they live need our protection from rubbish. The show also introduces some constellations Māori recognise in the sky, Te Matau a Maui and Te Ra o Tainui.
The Penguin and the Sea Monster is part of the Te Manawa School Holiday Programme and supports EnviroFest 2017.
