Creative Recycling

Using Te Manawa’s own inspirational pieces of recycled art we discuss what recycled art is all about, what ‘recycled’ means, and why it is a good idea to re-use and recycle, before students begin creating their own inspired pieces of recycled art.

Information for Teachers
Programme Objectives:
  • Be able to explore art made from recycled materials by New Zealand artists
  • Be able to re-use refuse in new exciting ways after being inspired by the work of artists featured in the programme

Special Requirements:

Parental assistance is required.  

This programme is not suitable for students under year 4 due to safety reasons.

  • The natural environment, and how natural materials can be used to create entirely new objects
  • The issue of human waste and its damaging effects on the earth, and possible strategies for dealing with waste and pollution
