Attention all amateur photographers passionate about wildlife.
19 January 2010
Entries have now opened for the Te Manawa Manawatū Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.
The competition is a chance for local amateur photographers to get out and capture their environment and be in to win a grand prize of $1000.
Winners of the competition will also become exhibitors at Te Manawa, with a showcase of the best photographs received displayed in the art gallery from 10 July – 10 October 2010.
Peter Sarjeant, Director of Exhibitions & Programmes at Te Manawa says “The competition will not only showcase the talent of photographers in ManawatÅ«, it will also raise the profile of wildlife conservation.”
Photographers will need to capture images of wildlife in its natural form. Mr Sarjeant explains, “Animals must be undomesticated and plants must be uncultivated. Wildlife could be anything from native bush to insects.”
Photos can be taken anywhere in New Zealand, but the photographer must be from the Manawatū area.
The best photographs will be selected by a team of local judges who all have extensive photographic or environmental knowledge.
All entries to the competition will need to be submitted by 4.30 pm on Friday 2 July 2010.
Entry forms and terms and conditions are available from Te Manawa front desk or online at www.temanawa.co.nz.
